Molecular detection of Cryptosporidium spp. in stray cats in Al-Qadisiyah governorate, Iraq

Cryptosporidiosis is an opportunistic zoonotic disease considered a global public health concern. Cats are potential host for transmitting diseases to humans as Cryptosporidium spp. infection. The present study aimed determine the spp in stray cats using molecular methods Al-Qadisiyah governorate, Iraq, from September 2021 February 2022. A total of 100 fecal samples were collected different geographical areas. All investigated Nested-PCR and sequencing identify characterize cats. results examination showed that 35% infected with Two species have been identified, C. parvum canis. In conclusion, reservoir human For prevention control Cat infection should get more attention officials, especially when prevalence rate high.
